We put the new Huawei Matebook D 16 through it’s paces and our reviewers share their feedback with you. Lead tester & author Phoebe Nieves.
Huawei Matebook D 16 reviewed
In many ways Huawei laptops now seem to fill the space that Dell ones used to in Ireland. Namely that they are quite affordable, do things pretty well, deliver a good screen size, and are quick to get started on. For this particular device our testers liked the screen size, 16 inches, and, when we let them loose on it, they were able, pretty quickly to get started and up and running quite quickly.
Battery power and unplugged time before needing a socket were at the lower end of what you might expect, but the previous factors in terms of utility and and price seemed to counter this drawback. Generally too this type of product sits well in the niche of being something robust enough for the older kids to use for the school and or college assignments. Therefore, while they might want it for some degree of commuting, the reality is that they would probably manage its usage around being hooked up to to the mains as much as possible.
It is a fair observation that the Matebook D16 does look much like earlier models from Huawei, so you have to figure the thinking is ‘if it isn’t broken then no need to fix it’. We certainly have a couple of Huawei’s around the office, and so the learning curve was not steep for several of our testers, even to the point that some, humorously we think, asked if they were testing the right device.
Maybe if something fits in like it has always been part of the scenery that is a win in of itself? We still have our testers putting this device through their tests, but so far they are happy with it, and feel that it delivers successfully if you are looking for a robust, durable and pretty reliable laptop to get school and college assignments done.
