HCS invests €1.1m to launch HCS Telecom

HCS, a leading IT, cybersecurity, and digital transformation services company, has announced that it is investing €1.1m in the launch of its new dedicated telecom business, HCS Telecom. Following the launch, HCS Telecom expects to achieve 2024 revenues of €1.3 million, and will employ eight people by year end.

HCS is rolling out this new arm of the business amid increasing demand from customers to migrate from legacy phone systems to cloud-based unified communications (UC). This demand is being driven by the surge in remote and hybrid working practices, and the phasing out of traditional copper wires in favour of fibre.

HCS Telecom has just launched a dedicated website and will provide innovative cloud phone solutions and robust connectivity for SMEs and enterprises in Ireland and the UK. These solutions will enable enhanced collaboration and facilitate flexible working for customers with integrated voice, video, messaging, and file sharing on a highly secure UC platform. The solutions are flexible and scalable in line with business growth.

The investment includes the upgrade of technology and equipment in HCS’ Irish-based data centre, with enhanced servers, backups, and security. This will allow for increased capacity which will, in turn, facilitate the expected growth of the company’s customer base.

The new division will be spearheaded by Head of Telecom Solutions, Mick Foley. HCS last year announced that it had acquired Fixaphone, a leading provider of business telephone systems, where Mick was managing director.

In the last two years, HCS has added 1200 users and 100 new customers to its telecom client base. Its technology enables approximately 170,000 client calls to be carried out each month. HCS Telecom customers include Brothers of Charity Services and the National Software Centre.

Mick Foley, Head of Telecom Solutions, HCS: “Legacy phone systems are static, which means that organisations don’t have the ability to work flexibly in an increasingly decentralised workplace. With this new division, we aim to address this challenge and enable more organisations to work from anywhere, safe in the knowledge that they are supported by a range of reliable and secure solutions.

“We have deep expertise in IT and telecoms, and we are leveraging our experience and skillsets to cement our offering for customers. HCS Telecom is a modern solution to a modern challenge and we look forward to helping our clients to continue to grow in an ever-evolving business landscape.”
