Organized by GOGLA in collaboration with The World Bank Group’s Lighting Global Program, and co-hosted by the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Republic of Rwanda, the 7th edition of the Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo will take place in Kigali, Rwanda from 18 to 20 October 2022.

Global Off-Grid Solar Forum, Kigali, Rwanda, 18 to 20 October

The Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo is the premier meeting of the off-grid solar sector, providing a unique platform for knowledge exchange, networking and showcasing off-grid solar products and services. The event aims to accelerate the development of the global off-grid solar market contributing to achieving universal energy access by 2030.

The previous edition was held in 2020 in Nairobi, and officially opened by H.E. The President of the Republic of Kenya Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, attracted over 1,250 participants from 75 countries, 80 exhibitors and over 80 government officials.

As part of our deepening collaboration with governments and development partners, this year we are expanding our focus to relevant neighbouring sectors and are thinking more broadly as to how off-grid solar can contribute to household needs beyond energy access.

About Lighting Global

Lighting Global is the World Bank Group’s initiative to rapidly increase access to off-grid solar energy for the 789 million people living without electricity world-wide. Managed by the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), we work with governments, the private sector, development partners, and end-users, continually innovating to unlock key market barriers and enable access and affordability to those that would otherwise be left behind.

Our support has expanded to technologies that go far beyond lighting, including systems to power the needs of households, businesses, schools, and health centers. We operate with funding gratefully acknowledged from ESMAP and their donors.
